Sad News from Hollywood

"Sam Bottoms, who had small but memorable roles in the 1970s classics Apocalypse Now and The Last Picture Show, has died. Bottoms, one of four actor brothers, died Tuesday of brain cancer at his home in Los Angeles, wife Laura Bickford said. He was 53."

  1. A silly question, perhaps ... but what does ^i^ represent?

  2. Good Morning, Jeff: Not silly, not at all. If anything, it's silly of me to assume everyone knows geekspeak the way this geek does. Simply?

    ^i^ = <*angel*> = RIP.

But, while I'm responding to you, I have been reading your blog on and off and I think your take on things really adds something to the story beyond the story. Good stuff. Glad you're our friend.

I can't speak for Frank; well, I can but I won't since he so eloquently speaks for himself; but, we are really blessed with some of the finest minds and writers in Cyberia who are regulars here. For this, I count the horseshoes on my arse. (And, Frank's piece on Bernadette is prolly the best "take" on same I've ever read; so happy to be here and read it, there.)

What an impressive roster. The most wonderful thing about the input and throughput and output of this wonderful community is that I am constantly learning learning learning and always, I am astonished at what I discover, the quality of writing, the acuity and celerity of magnificent minds shaping and creating it. Regrets, I've had but one: I suppose I had to go through Usenut and Forum abuse (a.k.a. cyber-bullying) in order to discover Blogging is really where I want to be; and, so, in a way, that might explain why I appreciate this type of exchange so much.

I could make a list of the greats; but, you're all great; and, I know Frank would agree with me on this (because we've discussed precisely that fact).

I don't celebrate Christmas (except in terms of what it is to a Catholic, His day); but, the greatest gift in the world is kindness and attentiveness to others; and, for that, I am truly grateful.

    So, the opposite of ^i^?

<*beam*> (or if you oughtta up-shut about now?)

    <^!^>

    and, then, there's the kitty:

    =^^=

which is to say, thank you with a beaming cat who swallowed the keyboard kind of expression.
