I just made the 19th comment on George Szirtes post (A Touch of Vendler in the Night), after finding the recording he was talking about. It's worth listening to:
It's a 50 minute talk, but the specific part that George is blogging about is about 4 minutes long. You can get to that part by clicking at the 14 minute and 36 second point once it downloads that far, about a third of the total. In other words, skip the first 14:36 minutes if you want. Like George, I did not get beyond the part where Vendler discusses the Stevens poem. She does the provoking she claims the poem does.
