Someone asked me whether JB had influenced LC: Short answer: absolutely. He acknowledges his influence as well. Unfortunately, Terry Jacks did not really "get" Brel at all and, of all the translations / covers of Brel, that one ranks below rank for everyone but some guy in Saskatchewan who'd argue with a fencepost (and lose).

ReplyDeleteI think it was around the time that show came out that Brel, while still, alive, was not at all well. There is nothing like Brel himself, though.
