OT: Geek Gawdess Tip Number Three

What with all the brouhahassles surrounding the Conflicker (C-Strain) Virus and April Fool's Day, anyone who cannot figure out whether they've been infected or not can easily discover the yay or nay of it by attempting to visit Anti-Virus 'sites such as Symantec's (Norton), AVG's (Grisoft), and McAfee's.

If you can see the 'site in your particular browser (given the software you're running), you can pretty much rest assured you've not been affected (or infected). If you cannot access the 'site, Houston, you need a solution and I suggest you check one of the better IT 'sites (Online Computer Mags, e.g.) for ways to de-Conflickerate, so to squeak.

This particular strain of Conflicker's so sharp and smart, it's no small wonder Microsoft put a bounty of a quarter-million USD bucks on the head/s of its creator/s. It disables your ability to access your anti-virus website so you can remove the thing.

(And, I'm okay since I run three different types of protection, one for which I pay and pay, the other pair, Spybot and Spyware Blaster, which I D/L freewarily from 'sites such as www.majorgeeks.com [one of my fave destinations on the 'net].)

HTH. Hope we're all safe, too. Have a delightful BITEful one, each and every dear one of you.
