This must be bad news to the folks at Publishers Weekly; they were on the verge of having a virtual "monopoly" on advance notice reviews.
On the other hand, this must be great news to the hundreds of reviewers to slave away (in exchange for meager compensation) on behalf of the Kirkus; they still have jobs (of sorts).
I nearly fell into the trap of reviewing for Kirkus; there were too many strings attached and too few perks (especially in terms of $$$).
