I remember that day myself. I was in the second-floor sitting room of my house in Germantown when I learned of it. I, too, had been reading Berryman at the time - Love & Fame. I was 30, which seemed improbably old to me at the time. Later, on my only trip to Minneapolis, I went out of my way to drive by the place where her jumped to his death. As for "He Resigns," I came to know what he was writing about in that poem.
