The "young psycholinguist confesses her strong attraction to pronouns," but she should also confess her attraction to an academic environment that supports her kind of "research." Don't get me wrong, now, because I also confess my attraction to the same kind of environment because it helps me put bread on the table. However, there are times when PhD candidates come up with the most bizarre dissertation subjects, and I cannot imagine how the "young psycholinquist" will pull all the loose ends together into something that will be either worthwhile or readable except to a few specialists. Ah, but that is the name of the game in academia. So, she should do well.
