Rightness ...

... Literature and silence.

  1. The point about a novelist being unable to leave it with silence is interesting. Maybe that's the difference between poets and novelists: poets are more comfortable with leaving it to silence. novelists certainly seem unable to stop correcting, revising, trying to get it right next time.

    Poets, on the other hand, seem to have a certain dread about ruining a feeling by putting words to it. They go ahead, knowing the dread of probably failure, and the worse dread of cheapening a moment by accident or incompetence.
