  1. Hard not to raise an eyebrow at the very, very neo-formalist slant of this workshop/conference, though. It's just one more foxhole among many, albeit a loud and lively one.

    And then there are those of us who just don't seem to fit in, anywhere, in any of the loud and lively foxholes.

    I know this conference quite well and like and admire the organizers and participants, as I'm sure you know, but I remain a latitudinarian when it come to poetry. Formalist or non, all that counts is whether you write poetry. None of the learned in 1870 would have known that Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman were the two greatest poets of their era.
