Computer geek that I am, expert in most of the desktop publishing and typesetting software out there, I completely agree with this: writing by hand is essential.
it's also portable. I was just writing on my blog about my journal that I write by hand in when I'm off camping or traveling, far from electricity to feed my laptop. A lot of poems start in the hardwritten journal, and I like it that way.
