I, too, am on the crows' side. Interestingly, crows fly into my neighborhood every day, but I have never seen one in my back yard, where there is usually plenty of fare for birds. I read once that they commute into the city, often from quite a distance. See Urban Crows.
Yes, I think some of them do commute. We get jackdaws coming in for the day to look around and see if they can make any headway against the carrion crows. So far they haven't and they don't stay. A pity.
