Profound and prophetic ...

The paper I wrote on Lear for by college Shakespeare class (which got an A+, by the way) argued that there is redemption at the play's end in the sense that Edgar, Kent and Albany have been enlightened by the horrific events they have witnessed:

The weight of this sad time we must obey
Speak what we feel, not what we ought to say
