Which part do you not agree with, Frank? The bit about it being the definitive American novel or its capture of racism?
I don't think Huckleberry Finn is all that greater a novel. I first read it when I about 12, right after reading Tom Sawyer, because I had read Tom Sawyer and loved it. I found Finn a disappointment. I didn't find Huck all that interesting.
