A nothing-in-particular post …

I'm not a big Neil Young fan, but for some reason today my favorite Neil Young video popped into my mind. Here it is:

  1. HI Frank,

I have one Neil Young song (so far anyway) on the memory stick I use in the car, Down by the River. The guitar grabs my attention every time, wild and inventive. I think that's why I like Duane Allman so much is that his was a wildly creative slide guitar. Young is ranked 34th all-time greatest guitarist by Rolling Stone. Allman was originally ranked #2. He was dropped to #9 in 2011, which I disagree with. I think it is a matter of appreciation. But back to Young, who was ranked behind Bob Dylan only as the second greatest living songwriter by Paste.

Here's the first paragraph of the Wikipedia write-up on Down by the River

"Down by the River" is a song composed by Neil Young. It was first released on his 1969 album with Crazy Horse, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. Young explained the context of story when In the liner notes of his 1977 anthology album Decade, Young states that he wrote "Down by the River," "Cinnamon Girl" and "Cowgirl in the Sand" while delirious in bed in Topanga Canyon with a 103 °F (39 °C) fever.
