The problem is that the fictional Miller and the real Miller are not the same. The latter takes the former with many grains of salt. (Also when one considers Vidal's own sexual boasting and literary pretensions, he was hardly in a position to cast any aspersions regarding such matters). Sexus is at times quite funny and for anyone who has lived in what I shall call a volatile relationship with a woman, it is very good at portraying the absurd agony of it all. As it says at the end, "Woof, woof."
