Salons deliberate …

… Senators spar over definition of ‘journalist’ in seeking to protect them | McClatchy.
Feinstein suggested that the definition comprise only journalists who make salaries, saying it should be applied just to "real reporters." 
Well, that would eliminate a lot of people, including many newspaper employees. These days everybody wants to be a pundit. Real reporting is hard work. Not that punditry isn't journalism of a sort.
