This is why we have to have unions.

While workers are spending their time doing their jobs, there is an underhanded element that creeps into management doing their "job" to cut wages and benefits to make themselves look good, without having to be good at managing tings.

This is a lesson we are constantly reminded of in Lowell, with our city hall. The workers in the ditches digging the canals were victims of slowed-down clocks. Management used slow clocks in order to cheat the workers out of hours. But they hired too many Irish, who got political and voted themselves into city office, then built a new city hall at a more prominent point. On each of the four sides of the tower is a clock that tells the correct time, and that could be seen by any worker in any of the canals.

There was a recent study or survey done in this country. What's rampant is management stealing wages from workers by cutting hours off time slips and time cards.
