The Evidence
Funny (well, not really) how
You can lose your voice (or is it
Your nerve?) late in life
(Though it can happen anytime)
And you wonder if anything you've uttered
Was ever real and not contrived — except
Contrivance also is real. A cassoulet,
Though most contrived, tastes real enough.
Maybe the surest way to heaven is to keep
An eye out for where it has contrived
To pass by right here and now.
Lovely poem, Frank.
