But if this quote is a response to the events in Ferguson, we've certainly seen how removing the militarized madness and having Captain Ronald Johnson walk in the streets with the protesters can turn a place from insanity to calmness in one night. There's a fine and endlessly interesting line between pragmatism and idealism.

  2. Hi Ed: I wasn't thinking of Ferguson at all when I chose the quote. I suppose a good example of pragmatic idealism would be Dorothy Day.
