Hmm …

"Most people in history did not even believe that economic growth was possible. People thought that if somebody became richer, it was only because somebody else became poorer."
Really? I'd like to see some evidence for that assertion.

We had escaped from our Afro-Asian homelands, and we had established ourselves as the most lethal species on the planet. “It was a harbinger of things to come — humankind crossing ocean barriers and destroying ecosystems.”
But isn't that just Almighty Evolution proceeding along its directionless path?

  1. For someone who makes his living wrestling with the Big Questions, he certainly seems to offer hackneyed, shopworn answers. Bad agriculture. Bad capitalism. Bad, bad humans.
