Actually, I think it's a good list, and I'm glad to see Emerson made it. I can still remember when I first read "Self-Reliance." I was 15, and it was a cold, sunny day in February. I felt as if I had just read my own personal declaration of independence.

  1. This list should be the core requirement general education humanities and literature syllabus for all college students. Add the Bible and Shakespeare to make a students' education complete. But I am being foolish I suppose. No college would now make such a requirement. Sad but true.
