Diversity …

Goddard's research begs the question of how many other native American languages may have been missed.
I think it raises the question. The Smithsonian should know better: Begging the Question.
In modern vernacular usage, "to beg the question" is sometimes used to mean "to invite the question" (as in "This begs the question of whether...") or "to dodge a question".[2] These usages are often criticized as being mistaken.
That's because they are mistaken. I also think we're talking about the languages of the indigenous population, not just the languages of people who were born here.
