Stefan Zweig

I've just completed my review of Stefan Zweig's collection of essays, Messages from a Lost World. That review is slated to appear in Rain Taxi later this summer. For now, let me say: what a dark, haunting collection; what an homage to Europe; and what a lament for all that was lost. For those interested in Zweig and in Europe between the wars, Messages is essential reading, not least because the ten essays it contains are published for the first time in English. More on Zweig and his contributions to European letters here.
