Funny how Stein and his female companion speak with the same voice. Also, his use of quotation marks implies that he is repeating their conversation verbatim. Really? An 800-word conversation? Clearly a piece of polemical fiction.
Finally, despite owning a summer home on Lake Pend Oreille for more than 20 years, he doesn't know how to spell the lake's name correctly. Clearly just phoning it in at this point.
