The self and truth …

… Informal Inquiries: "For Once, Then, Something" by Robert Frost.

Msgr. Ronald Knox, in a sermon to some school girls, noted that the first part of the sign of the cross — from forehead to breast — represents the self. The second part — from shoulder to shoulder — represents crossing out the self. If anything can get in the way of truth, it is the self.
