Ignorant profs …

Profs say UWyoming 'cowboy' slogan is offensive. UWyoming says get over it. (VIDEO).

These perfessers should pay a visit to the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering next January. Every year the Gathering hosts visitors from a herding culture from elsewhere on the planet. They could also look up vaquero.

  1. The ignorance of those critics is absurd. There's a proud tradition of black cowboys: there are tons of books about them, there's an entire museum devoted to them in Colorado, and they've even been honored on postage stamps as far back as the 1990s. A great many of the traditions of cowboys, including their clothing and equipment, come to us from medieval Spain by way of Mexico. And the Navajo are pretty well-known for cowboying. Those critics who see only a stereotype are, unsurprisingly, behind the rest of the culture in their understanding of what the word "cowboy" conveys these days.
