I passed this story on to a friend of mine who was a reference librarian in a public library and he recalled: 'We did have this happen on a Saturday a few years ago in front of the new non-fiction [shelves]. . . . [T]he custodian . . . was at one of the branches and not reachable by phone. It's the reason we got the custodians a cell phone. So we had to put "crime tape" around the incident until [the custodian] returned hours later. I never figured out how the stuff got there.'
