  1. Since becoming a pedestrian who uses mass transit at times, I keep coming across the benefits of walking, whether for the individual or for society. Just yesterday, the latest National Geographic Your Shot assignment was put up called Built to Walk. The invitation by Paul Salopek ends,

    So this is your assignment: Whether you live in a big city, or small town, in a migrant camp or on a farm, find an original, meaningful, artful way to capture the true essence of human migration or movement—one of the defining qualities of being human.

    Wanting to take photos itself gets one out of the car and even off the bicycle, and into a good pair of walking shoes.
