… By Firing Kevin Williamson,The Atlantic Shows It Can't Handle Real Ideological Diversity - Hit & Run : Reason.com. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)
I'm a Catholic. To quote Margaret Sanger, “I do not approve of abortion, nor can I give the address of anyone who will perform this operation.” So I don't like the idea of legalizing it. But I like the idea of criminalizing it even less. Leave it to the parents (yes, I think the man should at least be allowed some input), the physician, and God. Williamson's view is repellent.
As to whether it should have got him fired, well the Atlantic could have done a better job of vetting him, but the Atlantic has the right to hire or fire whoever they want — they have some freedoms too. There are plenty of people around who have views at odds with Progressive orthodoxy. Me, for instance.
