    "Politics and sociology were ignored."

    Followed by:

    "No socialist realism for us, thank you!"

    Ach so. Either they have a different definition of "ignored" than the one in my dictionary, or they forgot the adverb "selectively." Interesting that they think "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (which, yes, is an important American book) has more literary merit than "The Grapes of Wrath," and that of course thinking that has nothing to do with politics.

    But I've yet to find agreement with one of these lists, so I'm probably not the best judge...
