More on Walter de la Mare ...

... at The Bibliothecary. I am very fond of de la Mare. Last year I read W. Russell Brain's fascinating little book Tea with Walter de la Mare. I mentioned it in An odd but interesting pair of books ... I also reviewed Memoirs of a Midget, which was reissued by Philadelphia's own Paul Dry Books. I can't link to it. So I reprint it instead:

Update: Thanks to Dave Lull, I now can link to it: Memoirs of a Midget .

I just bought tea With Walter De La Mare at a second hand book sale at Winchester cathedral. The sale was in aid of the choir boys fund, which now seems appropriate. I like the old fashioned courtesy of both the author and the writer in this book. The pleasure in reading it is, for me, similar to waching old black and white english films. If only life was still like that.
