Frank, you should link this to the current issue of Phila. Mag. and their article titled "The Bitch of Broad Street" -- about our paper's own theatre critic, Toby Zinman. If you read that article, you'll be amazed at how much power a review can wield over a theatre production (at least, over our Philly productions, which, not having the megabucks behind them that Broadway shows do, can be made or destroyed by a review).
This very amusing article on Ms. Zinman also notes that there is a blog devoted to her vilification by local producers, playwrights, and directors. Its ironic title is "We Love Toby."

Blogs: Where the real power is, hey Frank?
Regrettably, the story doesn't appear online - and I can't find any sign of the blog, either.
