    Believe it or not, all Ive read by Goldsmith is, "She Stoops to Conquer" ... in an old Bantam paperback, paired with Sheridan's "School for Scandal."

  2. The Goldsmith poem I have always loved, Jeff, is "The Deserted Village," which I first discovered when I was in high school, and was one of the poems that made me fall in love with poetry.

    Husband Allan just found a beautiful hardbound copy of _Tristram Shandy_ yesterday -- published by New York's Heritage Press in 1935, intro. by Christopher Morley. Then an awful thought occurred to us: Is this an expurgated edition?

    Anyone know?
