A note of dissent ...

... Dave Lull, quoting John Simon in a Weekly Standard piece, emails that Samuel Beckett, of all people, "strongly disagreed with Wittgenstein's assertion that, about what cannot be said, one must remain silent: 'That is the whole point. We must speak about it.' " Of course, one might object that what cannot be said actually can't. Certainly Beckett seemed to find fewer and fewer words as time went by.
