The sublime and the ridiculous ...

... not necessarily in that order. At Petrona: Angry powerpoints to Gettysburg.

Interestingly, I found that "Mr Angry" post as Wordpress had it listed as today's "top" blog -- in terms of traffic i suppose. I'd never heard of Mr Angry (though have heard and read similar points of view about ppt). I posted about it on Petrona as I was mildly taken with the Gettysburg address angle. Dave (Lull) then responded with a link to a blog article by someone who I have met both at my place of work and at a scientific meeting -- not in the ppt context but in the context of (1) chemical mark-up language in publishing and (2) sharing of large datasets of scientific information on the internet. Doesn't this go to show what a small world the Internet is? In another, less thrilling, coincidence, Dave also commmented to my "Mr Angry ppt" post referring to Edward Tufte, whose book on display of quantitiative information is very well-thumbed in our house, for Malcolm's scientific papers mainly, but I've read it too. Small world indeed -- none of these people have ever met, I assume (except for me and Peter hyphentated surname) -- Dave, Mr Angry, Peter, Edward Tufte, me -- we are sure as anything connected by the Internet, though.

PS Of course, I should have noted, I have also met Malcolm, as I live in the same house as him. Sorry for the omission!
