It is common among the unfairer sex, that they generally have little to say of any interest unless irritated or piqued. When in a state of equinimity (which is quite rare between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner), a typical male will usually just nod and pretend to listen while reading a newspaper or watching tv.
