Words fail me ...

... they may fail you as well: Elizabeth Dewberry Left Robert Olen Butler to Join Ted Turner's Collection. (Hat tip, Karen Heller, who calls it "the most amazing email ever composed by a Pulitzer Prize-winning author." That it is.)

Update: Robert Olen Butler Says His Mass Email Was 'Intneded Strictly For Thos Who Personally Know Elizabeth And Me'.

  1. It's funny how variously that Butler missive was interpreted by the many people who commented on it below the posting.

The comments are absolutely hilarious! And I agree with the passive-aggressive theme: "She's going to be with a guy who resembles her abusing grandpa -- but he's really nice! -- and she could never get over my Pulitzer -- but she wasn't jealous, it's just that she can't write! -- and she had an intestinal blockage -- but let's not turn our minds to gross parts of her anatomy and failures of her body!--and I'm really really happy for her (hope she rots in hell the B*TCH!)."

    I've never laughed so hard.....
