Three cheers ...

... for the "worst" in the University of Delaware's "Residence Life" program. Sounds like my kind of gal.

Oh my God, that is hilarious, Frank! Three cheers for that opera-loving HUMAN BEING! I was once forced to teach a mandatory course called "Pluralism" to local college students. It was a ridiculous course in hate-mongering -- just what it was supposed to avert. We profs were there to tell all the students that they'd been oppressed -- if women, then by the males around them; if black, then by the whites around them; if gay, then by the straights around them. We managed to foment some nice little hatreds among students who'd been doing just fine before we got there.

It was an insane course in political correctness, exactly what universities should NEVER do. Freedom of speech and freedom of thought should be the hallmarks of higher education. Win the day by the quality of your arguments, not by forcing your opinions on other people. Encourage dissent, don't stifle it.

Besides, the racists and oppressors among us were more likely to be in the older generation (the professoriate not forced to attend this class), not among the kids who had grown up diverse.

Reverse-discrimination is almost as disgusting as the original kind.
