I had very pleasant encounter with her once at Nelson Shanks's home on the Delaware (I am sometimes admitted to such rarefied venues). She had the perfectly down-to earth manner of a genuine aristocrat. And she was a great museum director.
She was a lovely woman -- so much class. I almost always saw her on my visits to the PMA (where I'm a member, so they're fairly regular) and she was friendly to everyone, whether she knew them or not. Mark of the true aristocrat, in my opinion: She made no class distinctions.
