In case you wondered ...

... Bolaño's 2666: The Best Book of 2008. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

I haven't read 2666. The best book I read this year was Tan Twan Eng's The Gift of Rain. As I said in my review it's one of the best books I've ever read. My tai chi trainer liked it, too. It's about to come out in paperback. And there's a Kindle version.

    Frank,

I did not care for "A Gift of Rain". The book seemed like it was written so that it could be made into a movie. Just purchased 2666 in paperback. I will try to get to it this weekend. By the way, our 12 year old daughter came home from school one day with a copy of "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. She enjoyed it so much that we went out and bought her the box set. She is now just finishing up the last book in the series. I am enjoying watching the pleasure the books are giving her. She is having a wonderful time with the series.

Whoa... your TAI CHI trainer??? Frank, I didn't know you indulged in any kind of martial art, or any regulated kind of exercise (other than walking, which I know you do lots of all the time).
