The fellow from the Larkin Society says it's wonderful these recordings will comprise part of Larkin's public-domain recording oeuvre; but, that's not true since Faber's charging for them. If they're PD, they ought to be free.
Truly touching and oddly heart-rending. Really happy you found this to share with us, Dave; it's a revelation in itself. The work certainly features a kind of droll to dark humour; but, what a lovely insight into his home and heart, an extra dimension that does provide a further glimpse into a brilliant poet's working mind. Glad this exists. Thank you so much. Amazing story, especially with all the twenty-sixers on it.

ReplyDeleteYou can hear parts of the recordings in a video at YouTube that tells the story of Philip Larkin - The Lost Tapes.
