So moving ...

... Richard John Neuhaus, 1936–2009. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

Those of you who did not know of Father Neuhaus at least know now that he was loved.

Father Neuhaus summered in Ottawa and while on vacation he would assign himself a "summer project" i.e., to read Shelby Foote's Civil War Trilogy, or the episles of St Paul, or Shakespeare's Sonnets etc.

Here is a link to an essay that I enjoyed very much about his summers in Ottawa:

I also enjoyed Professor Myers' moving thoughts on Father Neuhaus.
