I think Priestley is an unfairly neglected writer.

  1. "Good Companions," "Angel Pavement," "Lost Empires" -- wonderful novels, all. Also neglected is an absolutely smashing film he wrote, "The Last Holiday," with Alec Guinness and the luminous Kay Walsh, that somehow perfectly combines sentiment with the indifference of fate. It was "remade" into a botch under the same title starring Queen Latifah.
