Picking up on another issue in that post, I too was amazed to read in the UK mail list I subscribe to that the petition to save Book World in the print edition has only run to 200 names. This seems incredibly small.
It is very sad that these print book review supplements are going. The Times over here just killed theirs off without any announcement two Saturdays ago. They just redesigned the whole Saturday paper and subsumed books into a couple of pages at the back of "Saturday Review". I doubt it will be long for this world - it already seems much smaller in terms of coverage than before. (Though, oddly, the Saturday Review is a broadsheet, thought the rest of the paper remains tabloid, as was the old Books supplement).
