Listen up ...

... Reply to my critics - not mine, David's. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

I have long thought it remarkable that God should be depicted in the Old Testament as identifying himself not as one being among other beings, but simply as being. Rather sophisticated for a bunch of shepherds wandering the desert looking for a home. If memory serves, by the way, I think that the aorist imperative in Kyrie eleison indicates that the phrase means something on the order of "God did, does, will have mercy."
