Today's Inquirer reviews ...

... A backward look at a lively life.

... A writer who steered life toward poetry.

... Universal themes of family love, loss and forgiveness.

... A reporter's vivid novel makes war in Kosovo real.

... A warning of creeping totalitarianism in U.S.

Comments: Frankly, the federal government now scares the hell of out me. It is too large, too invasive, and too unstoppable. I never thought I would ever become a radicalized libertarian but I may be on my way because that seems like the most sensible reaction to what is happening. My recent post on my blog Books and Notes must make me sound like a raving anarchist, but perhaps a bit of raving and a bit of anarchy are just what the doctor ordered as a cure for what ails us all.
