In “In Praise of Doubt,” Mr. Berger has teamed up with the Dutch philosopher Anton Zijderveld to argue that it is possible to maintain moral certainty about liberal democratic values without succumbing to either of these extremes.

Yes, it's called faith, which is grounded on the fact of uncertainty.
Physicists may rely on the same laws for hundreds of years, but social scientists rewrite their own every generation.
That's because "social science" is science only by analogy.
