Waugh and the Monsignor ...

... `To Have Once Been a Brilliant Picture'.

At the end of his life, Harold Macmillan saw his friend Monsignor Knox off at th train station and wished him a pleasant journey. Knox replied, "It will be a very long one." Let us all pray we can be so composed in the face of death. I am, even now, training myself to cast a cold eye on death.
