Genre-jumper ...

Bryan Appleyard - Geoff Dyer: The Hatchet Man. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)

... everything Dyer writes is a bit odd. He is a genre-jumper, primarily because he doesn’t believe in genres. He says, for example, that his ostensibly nonfiction book on photography, The Ongoing Moment (superb), “was much more of a novel than many of the books eligible for tthe Booker prize that year”. And he dislikes the typical nonfiction book that publishers love.
