… the father of the Turing test wasn’t using this as some threshold for intelligence, he was simply stating his prediction of where he thought computers would be five decades in the future.
What seems to get lost in all this is that the computer is programmed by humans. A computer behaving in a human way would be, in some essential way, self-programming.
